About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Intern to join our team in Nairobi. This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmaceutical setting, allowing you to apply your academic knowledge and develop essential skills. You will be involved in preparing and dispensing medications, interacting with patients, and maintaining inventory, all while adhering to industry standards and protocols.

Job Descriptions

  1. Dispensing: Prepare and dispense drugs to patients and study participants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Verification: Verify that all prescriptions are filled correctly and promptly.
  3. Patient Interaction: Interact with patients and study participants, dispensing medication and completing study-specific documentation according to SOPs and good pharmaceutical practices.
  4. Inventory Management: Receive, record, and store medications, maintaining an accurate inventory and informing the pharmacy practitioner of restocking needs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or Pharmacy from a PPB-recognized institution.
  • Registration: Enrolled or registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) within the last year or currently in the process of registration.

Skills

  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in preparing and dispensing medications.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients and team members.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to maintain accurate records and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of pharmaceutical practices, SOPs, and good pharmaceutical practice standards.

Languages

  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage

Eligibility and Selection

  • Mandatory Requirements: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology or Pharmacy from a PPB-recognized institution, and recent enrollment or registration with PPB (within one year).
  • Desirable Traits: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a team.
