About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (M&E) Officer to join our Global Operations Division at ChildFund’s Kisumu-Ahero Office. This full-time, fixed-term position involves supporting the Nurturing Care project team in planning and executing monitoring and evaluation activities across Homabay and Busia counties. You will ensure implementation quality according to accepted standards, providing essential feedback for learning, accountability, and decision-making.

Job Description

As an M&E Officer, you will:

  1. Develop detailed implementation plans, work plans, and performance measurement tables.
  2. Support project team preparation of periodic internal and donor reports.
  3. Assist in child development outcome research processes in Busia and Homabay counties.
  4. Monitor project implementation status and progress based on performance measurement tables and MEL plans.
  5. Create user-friendly data collection and reporting formats.
  6. Analyze collected data and recommend improvements.
  7. Develop M&E plans, indicator reference sheets, trackers, data collection tools, and participant databases.
  8. Conduct process and outcome monitoring to assess activity implementation quality.
  9. Participate in planning, implementation, and follow-up of evaluations.
  10. Coordinate evaluations, assessments, and reviews, including recruiting research assistants and coordinating data collection and analysis.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Disaster Management, Community Development, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  2. Specialized training in monitoring and evaluation.
  3. 2-4 years of hands-on experience in M&E for projects/programs.
  4. Experience with international NGOs or organizations.
  5. Experience in data capturing for humanitarian and development work.
  6. Proficiency with DHIS2 systems is a plus.
  7. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  8. Knowledge of mobile data applications like Survey DHIS2, CommCare, Survey CTO, KOBO Collect, ODK.

Eligibility and Selection

  • A minimum of 2-4 years of direct experience in M&E.
  • Relevant academic qualifications and hands-on experience.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage M&E plans and tools.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with project evaluations and studies.
  • Support capacity building for project staff and frontline workers.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Nurturing Care Management Information System.
  • Facilitate capacity building sessions for new and existing system users.
  • Document and share project information and learnings.
