About the Job

Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel is seeking a dedicated Demi Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. This full-time position involves preparing and servicing a la carte and buffet menus according to the hotel’s high standards, ensuring exceptional guest service, and contributing to our dynamic kitchen environment.

Job Descriptions

As a Demi Chef, you will report to the Cluster Executive Chef and support the culinary team by:

  1. Consistently delivering professional, friendly, and proactive guest service.
  2. Preparing and servicing all food items for a la carte and buffet menus following hotel recipes and standards.
  3. Actively participating in daily shift briefings to share ideas, opinions, and suggestions.
  4. Maintaining proper rotation of products in all chillers to minimize wastage and spoilage.
  5. Ensuring storeroom requisitions are accurate and timely.
  6. Having comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, daily features, and promotions.
  7. Maintaining the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment.
  8. Adhering to kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards.
  9. Following all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Previous experience in the culinary field is required.
  2. Journeyman’s papers or international equivalent are an asset.
  3. Diploma Certification in a Culinary discipline is an asset.
  4. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Highly responsible and reliable.
  6. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
  8. Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
