Accounting Intern

About the Role

Join Rainforest Alliance as an Accounting Intern in Nairobi, Kenya. This 3-month Internship offers hands-on experience in accounting and finance within the NGO/Non-Profit sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accounting activities including invoice assignment, review, and processing.
• Support payment processes for advances, invoices, and staff expenses.
• Create vendor and beneficiary templates in accounting systems.
• Compute, file, and pay VAT and consultancy withholding taxes.
• Process monthly statutory taxes and support related payments.
• Review and process staff expense reports and reimbursements.
• Assist with month-end closing, fixed asset reconciliation, and depreciation schedules.
• Liaise with vendors, consultants, and staff on payment issues.
• Support mapping of project expenses for donor reporting.
• Contribute to annual planning and budgeting.
• Support finance and administration projects and contracts management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA qualifications.
• Proficiency in Excel and computerized accounting systems.
• Up to 3 years' experience in accounting.
• Knowledge of statutory processing and budgeting procedures is an advantage.
• Strong math, analytical, and technical skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines.
